Beauty & Skincare Tips: Evening Eye Makeup Tips

The eyes are one of the most attractive areas of the body, and many people choose the eyes as a feature they like to enhance and beautify. The skin all around the eyes is very thin and delicate. One of the first things that skincare experts will tell you is to be gentle when applying makeup in the eye area. But other than that, you can be creative with color and textures that best compliments you when applying evening eye makeup.

Situate yourself in a well-lit area with a good mirror. Start out by applying a nice layer of moisturizing lotion to your face and neck. If you have oily skin, make sure your moisturizer is oil free so it won’t clog your pores. Dry skin may require a more hydrating type of facial moisturizer. It is best to apply moisturizer immediately after washing your face, but about a half hour prior to applying evening makeup. Make sure when you are applying the moisturizing lotion that you dab it onto and around your eyes gently as the skin is very thin and sensitive here. Better yet, use a moisturizing cream that is made specifically for the eye area. When your skin is well hydrated, you evening makeup will look great.

Next, dab on some lightener or concealer on the eyelids and under the eyes to make them look bright and hide any dark circles or discoloration. Since most people are looking for a dramatic look for evening eye makeup, choose eye shadow shades that sparkle and simmer while also making your eyes pop. Dark browns, blacks, plums, navies, and greens are all great choices. You want a dark shade for the eyelid into the crease and then sweep a shimmery light shade on the brow bone. Blend the colors in.

Use a dark eyeliner pencil or liquid eyeliner to paint a line alongside the top of your lashes. You may want to extent the line out and up a bit on the outside corners of your eye. If needed, apply a second layer.

Save your lashes for last. Use a metal or heated eyelash curler to put a temporary bend in your lashes. Metal curlers are very inexpensive and can be found at your local drug store, department store, or pharmacy. Curling your eyelashes makes your eyes appear more open and alert. Then brush on black or dark brown mascara and your evening eye makeup is complete.

When it is time to remove your evening eye makeup, always use gentle eye makeup remover because it is formulated especially for cleaning the delicate eye area. Always remove your evening makeup before going to bed at night. This will prevent skin damage and blocked pores, as well as prevent your pillowcase from getting grimy with makeup.
