Beauty & Skincare Tips: Eye Moisturizers
The skin around the eyes is not only delicate and sensitive, but it is very thin. Even slightly pulling at the skin while applying makeup can cause wrinkles and discoloration. With this area of the face being so delicate, using special products geared just for the eyes will ensure this skin stays healthy and radiant. One of the most important products for the eyes is eye moisturizers.
Moisturizers are good for the skin on your entire face. It creates a barrier between the air and your skin, sealing in moisture and stopping evaporation. It keeps the skin’s natural moisture balance. Moisturizers also sooth skin and give it a glowing feeling. It can plump up skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, making you look younger and more radiant.
It is very important to keep your face moisturized at all times. A moisturized face will look healthy and radiant, and it will delay the onset of wrinkles and age spots that appear as we get older. The more you take care of your skin now, the better it will look into your older years. Using eye moisturizers every day can delay the appearance of crow’s feet and other wrinkles around the eyes.
If you suffer from dark circles under your eyes, or if you have puffy or baggy eyes, applying moisturizer can help. There are a few different causes of dark circles and puffy eyes, of which not all cases will be resolved by moisturizing the skin under and around the eye. But there are some instances where it will help.
Eye moisturizers are specially made for the delicate skin around the eyes. This means these eye creams are made with lower levels of active ingredients so they do not irritate the skin. Eye creams and moisturizers also tend to have additional ingredients that are not found on other facial creams and moisturizers. Caffeine is often an ingredient in eye moisturizers because it is known to reduce puffiness around the eyes. Vitamin K is an active ingredient in eye creams and moisturizers because it is known to minimize dark circles under the eyes. And many eye moisturizers and eye creams contain silicone derivatives and light diffusers to plump up small wrinkles and crow’s feet and make the under eye area appear bright. This makes your entire face look more alert and rested.
Since facial moisturizers, including eye moisturizers, should be applied daily it almost makes sense that it includes SPF protection against damaging sun UV rays. This will give you protection two-fold. And it should also give you incentive to make sure you do apply eye moisturizer and face moisturizer daily.
What you have to be careful of is the type of moisturizer you use. People with dry skin will want to make sure they choose an eye moisturizer with extra hydrating properties. You can use just about any type of eye moisturizer on the market. People with oily skin should stick with water based and oil free moisturizers to prevent adding additional oils to the skin which will clog pores and cause acne.
