Developing Good Habits – The Results of Positive Growth

Whenever we talk about habits, most people automatically think of bad habits in their life that they intend to break sometime in the future. Very little emphasis is placed on the benefits of developing good habits consistently throughout your life time. As we continue in our careers, relationships, and lives we should focus on developing a quantity of positive habits that will explode our positive growth. Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

Developing Good HabitsIn developing good habits, it is the small habits that are the most important. We want to reach a point with these important little habits that we do them without thinking. For example, suppose that you want to develop the habit of keeping a schedule that is up to date. One step in this direction is to be consistent in planning a good schedule at the beginning of the week. If you can get in the habit of updating the schedule for about ten minutes every day, then you will always have an updated schedule by investing minimal conscious effort. This small investment of time results in achieving more with your available time and sharpens your focus.

Developing good habits can lead to happier relationships and healthier lifestyles by making small changes that correspond to what you are trying to improve. If you are wanting to become closer to your significant other, a habit of a date night once per week can help you keep communication lines open and honest and encourage a better relationship. A healthy lifestyle may involve some hard work and exercise, but the increased energy, less trips to the doctor and better sleep will be well worth the effort. Along with saving money, you will save time for the things that you really want to do and you will enjoy doing them even more.

Good habits build on each other and open your life up to many good changes. You can build steadfast confidence which leads to more opportunities and you will be in a position to make better choices. Habits that develop your inner man and spirituality strengthen you to handle hardships that will come your way. Positive personal growth through developing good habits creates a solid foundation for your life and the lives of others to build upon. Your friends, family, and coworkers may very well be inspired by some of your habits and venture onto their own journey of self improvement.
