Having long and lush eyelashes is something that is coveted by many women. Especially those that feel their natural lashes are not up to par. Even with all the mascaras out there that promise mile-long lashes, if you don’t have decent lashes to start with, mascara may not be enough. When you need more than what several coats of mascara can provide, it is time to learn about fake eyelashes.
While the best way to get your fake eyelashes is your salon, many women may not be able to afford, or want to pay, the price for professional false eyelashes. With a little practice, applying fake eyelashes yourself can be quick and easy. It is only the first few times that this task is daunting and nerve-wracking. Collect tips on how hot apply fake eyelashes to make the experience go smoothly and avoid the mistakes that other first time fake eyelash wearers make.
First, gather the necessary supplies, including a piece of white paper to easily spot the fake lashes and a magnifier to make it easier to see while applying them. You’ll also need some pointed tweezers to hold the lashes and special fake eyelash adhesive glue. Sit at a table in front of your magnifying mirror and place all your tools in front of you.
To apply fake eyelashes, take your tweezers and grab the fake eyelash. Dip the base of the lashes into the glue and then place onto your eyelid, as close to the baseline of your own lashes. Depending if you have individual or small clumps of fake lashes or one larger strip, you can fill in sparse areas or put a few extra fake eyelashes on the corners for a more dramatic look. As you place the eyelashes, press firmly and gently with something blunt like a pencil erasure. Hold in place for about five seconds to give the glue a chance to hold. Repeat on the other eye.
Do not touch the fake lashes until the glue is completely dry. It is best to wait several minutes. Once dry, apply a dark eyeliner, black is often best, over the glued on fake eyelashes to camouflage the seam and hide the glue. Follow with your mascara. The mascara works nicely to blend your natural lashes with the fake eyelashes, and will make your eyes look larger and fuller. You may even want to apply two coats of mascara. But add the second coat of mascara immediately as it will dry fast and can clump.
To add an extra element of glamour to your eye, use an eyelash curler before putting on your mascara. The lash curler will bend your lashes, giving your eyes and open and alert look and will make you appear younger, just like an instant eye lift. You can place one bend in your lashes, or two, for more curl. You can also heat up a metal eyelash curler with heat from your hairdryer. There are electric heated eyelash curlers available, but they are not needed. Metal eyelash curlers are very inexpensive and can be found at your local pharmacy.
